JUST IN: Nigerian Police, Judicial Workers Clash At High Court

On Wednesday, November 22, there was a fight between police officers and striking judicial workers at the gate to the Osun State High Court in Oke-Fia over the embattled Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo.

The court workers’ protest against the embattled Chief Judge continued on Wednesday, following their Monday picketing over charges of highhandedness and withholding of their wardrobe allowances.

The brawl broke out as tensions rose over Justice Ojo’s recurring problems.

When the besieged Chief Justice, Justice Ojo, resumption of her office was met with opposition by the union leadership, they attempted to harass her and drive her out of office.

However, the security guards who were escorting her resisted, so they fired tear gas at the workers who attempted to assault her.

The judicial workers led by the chairman of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State branch, Comrade Gbenga Eludire advanced to the office of CJ to forcefully eject her but they resisted.

Comrade Eludire declared an indefinite strike over the clash.
