James Brown Breaks Silence Over Abuja Area Mama’s Death, Says Publicising Yourself Puts Your Life At Risk
James Brown has broken his silence following the death of fellow crossdresser Abuja Area Mama.
Area Mama was found dead in the early hours of Thursday along the Katampe – Mabushi expressway in Abuja.
Viral pictures showed the crossdresser with scratches and bruises all over his body and face. His belongings were also littered around him.
In an Instagram post, Brown advised his colleagues to stop going out in public wearing outfits of the opposite sex. He said they might be putting their lives at risk.
He also mourned Area Mama while wondering why he wore a woman’s outfit and was “in search of customers on the streets of Abuja”.
Brown said his crossdressing is only for content and movie creations, adding that he has never “stood on the road my entire life”.
“This Area Mama that happened was so quick. It was so quick that I did not even get enough time to see this boy. And I do not know who dey advise am. You don blow small. The work you dey do suppose reduce,” he said in a mixture of Pidgin and English.
“… He is dead already. All I know is that most of you who are dressing as a woman, standing on the road, your life is at risk. I have never dressed like a woman and stood on the road my entire life. It has never been my caution.
“My drama queen is to do Instagram content or shoot movies. Everybody represents different things… Stay safe out there.”
Benneth Igweh, the FCT commissioner of police, has ordered an investigation into the death of the crossdresser.
