BREAKING: Many ISWAP Fighters Killed In Explosion While Preparing IEDs For Attack
No fewer than seven members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been reportedly killed in an explosion in a locality between Ba’anfani and Koleram in the far Lake Chad Basin of Borno State.
It was learnt that the incident occurred on December 30, 2024.
This was disclosed by a security source in the Lake Chad area in a report on Wednesday.
He noted that the terrorists were killed while attempting to prepare improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which the terrorists likely intended to use for attacks in the region.
The statement reads in part; “At least seven terrorists belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were killed in an explosion while attempting to prepare improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
“The incident occurred on December 30, 2024, in a locality between Ba’anfani and Koleram in the far Lake Chad Basin of Borno state.
“Sources disclosed that the explosion happened during the assembly of the IEDs, which the terrorists likely intended to use for attacks in the region.
“The Lake Chad Basin has been a hotspot for ISWAP activities, with the group frequently resorting to IEDs as part of its terror tactics as a desperate attempt.”
