Interior Partners European Security Academy To Strengthen Internal Security
In a bold step towards deepening partnership to enhance Internal security, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, in his Office in Abuja hosted the European Security Academy delegation to a high-level discussion aimed at strengthening international ties to bolster internal security.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo, while welcoming the delegation, led by Dr. Dariusz Sielicki, reaffirmed his commitment to nation-building through a secure and prosperous Nigeria, calling the partnership with the European Security Academy, a significant step forward.
The Minister expressed his delight at the visit of delegates from the European Security Academy to Nigeria for a strategic partnership.
Speaking during its presentation, the Minister described the collaboration as timely and crucial to addressing pressing internal security challenges.
The Minister acknowledged the Academy’s extensive experience with global security systems, which inspires confidence in their ability to provide Nigeria with world-class solutions.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted areas of potential collaboration to include human capacity development, curriculum design aligned with international standards, training programs, and required capacity-building initiatives for the proposed National Paramilitary Academy. He also stressed the importance of integrating the rule of law into security operations, noting the Academy’s impressive track record, including its involvement in international justice systems.
“Our Immigration Service, Civil Defence, Correctional Service, and Fire Service are undergoing significant transformations, and this collaboration comes at a critical time. Border control, protection of critical assets, and aligning our services with global best practices are just a few of the pressing challenges we must address,” he said.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Dr. Dariusz Sielicki said the European Security Academy recognized the progress made by Nigeria and would like to contribute to the national security.
