VIDEO: Armed Men Abduct, Torture Tie Hands of Sunday Igboho’s Iru Ekun Members, Force Them To Renounce Group

Armed men identified in a viral video as Fulani gunmen have reportedly abducted and brutalised members of the Iru Ekun group in Bani community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, tying their hands behind their backs and interrogating them over their alleged association with the group.
In the video obtained by Ibom Focus, the armed men were seen questioning the abducted individuals in Yoruba, accusing them of ignoring previous warnings against associating with or welcoming members of Iru Ekun into the community.

One of the armed men claimed that residents had repeatedly been warned against having any dealings with the group.
Several men were seen with their hands tied behind their backs as their captors demanded their names, identities and explanations about their involvement with Iru Ekun.
During the interrogation, one of the abducted men identified himself as Yusuf Alagbere and said he was a hunter who had been invited to the area.
When asked who invited him, he replied that the Elere boys had contacted him.
Another man, identified as Jelili Alagbere, confirmed that he belonged to Iru Ekun when questioned about his affiliation.
The armed man confronting him asked why he had continued associating with the group despite the alleged warning against its presence in Bani.
Jelili, who was wearing an Iru Ekun-branded T-shirt, responded that he was unaware of the warning.
The captors also questioned the men about why they had fled when they encountered the armed group.
Another abducted individual identified himself as Rafiu and said he was coming from home when he was seized. When asked about his family background, he identified himself as the son of Elere.
An elderly man was also seen with his hands tied behind his back as one of the armed men questioned him about his relationship with Iru Ekun.
The elderly man denied belonging to the group and challenged the captor to identify any occasion when he had been seen associating with its members.
“Did you see me with them before? I’m not a member of Iru Ekun,” he said.
Towards the end of the video, the armed men asked the abducted individuals whether they would continue participating in Iru Ekun activities.
The men were heard responding that they would no longer participate in the group’s activities.
The circumstances surrounding the reported abduction and brutalisation, including the identities of the armed men and the current condition of the abducted individuals, were not established in the footage.
Background: Previous Threat Against Sunday Igboho
The incident comes months after a man identified as Fulani and reportedly from Bani issued a threat against Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
On June 24, 2026, SaharaReporters reported that the man had warned Igboho against entering Bani to drive Fulani residents out of the community.
In a video seen by Ibom Focus, the man, dressed in traditional attire and seated on a motorcycle in what appeared to be a bushy location, accused Igboho of mentioning the name of Bani’s traditional ruler and warned him to exercise caution.
“Bani is not like Igangan. We, the people of Bani, are not scared of you. You are just a kid,” the man said.
He also defended Fulani residents in the community against allegations of criminality, insisting that they engaged in legitimate activities, particularly mining, to earn a living.
“We Fulani in Bani are not bandits. Call Yoruba people in Bani and ask them whether the Fulani in Bani are bandits,” he said.
The man further warned Igboho against visiting the community, threatening that he would not return home safely if he entered Bani.
“If you dare set foot in Bani, you will not go home safely, I swear to God,” he said.
He also questioned allegations linking Fulani residents in the area to banditry and insisted that the community was not intimidated by Igboho.
The latest footage has raised concerns over the reported treatment of the Iru Ekun members and the threats made against them.
However, the full circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
