BREAKING: Hundreds Flee as Gunmen Abduct Dozens in Kebbi

    Ningi’s Suspension

Residents of Alelu, Kimba and Jandutsi communities in Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State have fled their homes following renewed attacks by suspected Lakurawa terrorists.
The attackers reportedly killed several residents, abducted dozens of people and demanded ₦200 million for the release of their victims. Residents gave varying estimates of the number abducted, ranging from over 60 to about 80.
According to a video report by Yusuf Abdullahi of Nagari FM, the attacks forced families to seek refuge in Jega town, where many are struggling to access food, shelter and other basic necessities.
Residents also reported that between five and six people were killed, while others sustained injuries. However, the casualty figures could not be independently verified.
A community representative said some abductees had reportedly regained their freedom following negotiations and other interventions, while others remained in captivity.
The renewed attacks reportedly occurred after Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris visited one of the affected communities to sympathise with residents over the security situation.
Displaced families have appealed to the state government to strengthen security, rescue those still in captivity and provide emergency assistance to affected residents.
