Mr Shehu responded to the question by saying that everyone who lived in the country in 2015 knew the security problems at that time. He mentioned how there were bombings in major cities across the country, some of which were the bomb explosion at the United Nations office and the bombing of the Police Headquarters. He added that back then in 2015 there was no place of worship that was safe in much of the northern region of Nigeria, citing that Boko Haram was even threatening to head to the southern region.

Mr Shehu went on to say that all those are behind us today and that Boko Haram has been pushed back to the fringes of Lake Chad.

The President’s Media Assistant however said that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari accepts the new security challenges and that the security challenges in the country are being confronted given the available resources. He added that there is an ongoing conversation between the executive and the legislative arms of government on a major funding scheme that would see the release of huge amounts of money to the arms service for the procurement of more needed security hardware.

According to Mr Garba Shehu, all the current security shortcomings that the nation is currently grappling with, are being attended to and they would soon become a thing of the past considering the seriousness with which they are being tackled. He ended the conversation by saying that the worrisome incidents of killings, banditry and kidnapping, would soon be things in our past.
