Missing Teenage Boy Found Dead in Well
The Kano State Fire Service has recovered the body of a three-year-old boy who was earlier reported missing in Wangara Village, Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The incident was confirmed on Sunday by the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Sani Anas, in a statement issued by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to the statement, the agency received a distress call at about 7:50 a.m. on Friday from one Dan Asabe Rabiu, reporting the disappearance of the child, identified as Badamasi.
“Upon receiving the report, a rescue team from the agency’s headquarters was immediately deployed to the scene,” Abdullahi said.
He explained that on arrival, it was discovered that the child had been missing since Thursday evening, with his parents suspecting that he might have fallen into an open well.
Firefighters reportedly descended into the well and retrieved the child unconscious. He was later confirmed dead.
Abdullahi added that the remains of the deceased were handed over to the ward head of Wangara Village for burial.
The Kano State Fire Service expressed its condolences to the bereaved family and advised residents to ensure that open wells are properly covered and that adequate safety measures are taken around hazardous areas, especially to protect children.
