APC Targets 12.5 Million Members As E-Registration Deadline Moves To February

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the extension of the party’s nationwide membership e-registration exercise and announced new dates for its congresses and national convention.
The decisions were reached at the 133rd meeting of the NWC held on Friday, January 30, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed that the deadline for the ongoing membership e-registration exercise has been extended from January 31, 2026, to February 8, 2026.

According to Morka, the extension followed appeals from party stakeholders across the country, including the Progressive Governors’ Forum, due to the overwhelming turnout of Nigerians eager to register as members of the APC.

He noted that the exercise has recorded unprecedented success nationwide, with millions of members already captured on the party’s digital platform.

On the party’s internal activities, Morka announced that the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses have been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, while the APC National Convention will hold on March 27 and 28, 2026.

He further disclosed that Osun, Ekiti, Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been exempted from the February congresses.

Explaining the exemptions, Morka said Osun, Ekiti and the FCT are preparing for forthcoming elections, adding that congresses in those areas will be conducted after the elections.

He also noted that Rivers State held off-cycle congresses in 2025 and that the tenure of the elected executives is still subsisting.

On preparations for the national convention, Morka revealed that the NWC has approved the composition of the National Convention Coordinating Committee, noting that the full list of members, including the chairman and leadership structure, will be released on Monday.

In line with its commitment to transparency and innovation, the APC also announced that applications for participation in the upcoming congresses will be made available online as part of the party’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.

The party disclosed that its membership has continued to grow significantly, with registrations exceeding seven million nationwide. Projections, according to the APC, indicate that membership could surpass 12.5 million by the close of registration on February 8, 2026.

The APC called on party leaders, members and supporters across the federation to intensify mobilisation efforts and encourage eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to take advantage of the extended registration window.
The NWC expressed appreciation to party members nationwide for their continued confidence, commitment and support.
