Nigerian Navy Recovers 25,000 Litres of Suspected Crude Oil in Delta

The Nigerian Navy has uncovered approximately 25,000 litres of suspected crude oil stored in a dugout reservoir in the Oteghele area of Delta State as part of its ongoing efforts to combat crude oil theft.
The discovery was made by NNS DELTA on October 8, 2026, following credible intelligence.
According to the Navy, the reservoir and its contents were handled in line with established procedures.
The latest operation brings the total quantity of suspected crude oil uncovered by NNS DELTA in Oteghele to approximately 65,000 litres in two consecutive days. The Navy had discovered about 40,000 litres in the same area on October 7.
The successive recoveries highlight the Navy’s continued efforts to maintain pressure on locations suspected of being used for the storage of illegally obtained petroleum resources.
The Nigerian Navy reiterated its commitment to preventing criminal operators from unlawfully exploiting the nation’s petroleum resources and protecting critical national economic assets.
