‘Chukwueze To Retire’ As Morocco Beat Super Eagles

    Chukwueze To Retire

Many Nigerian football supporters have reacted to the Super Eagles’ defeat against Morocco at the ongoing AFCON semi-final tie on Wednesday. Ibom Focus reports that the host nation defeated Nigeria 4-2 on penalties after the match ended in a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes.

Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemachi missed their penalty shoot-out for Eric Chelle’s side against the Atlas Lions. Reacting, some Nigerians singled out Chukwueze for criticism, insisting that the Fulham winger should just retire from international football. Others hailed the Super Eagles for putting on a good fight against Morocco.

Here are some comments on X:

@nwanzekwejnr, “The Super Eagles of Nigeria gave everything against Morocco, it’s never easy playing in such an atmosphere! Kudos to the team for a brilliant competition, and kudos to Éric Chelle for an excellent tournament. The boys gave it their all, but it wasn’t meant to be. Up Nigeria.”

@TOPIC_1229, “God will punish those big players for not stepping out for penalty, I hope they change them and our coach too. A lady was interviewing him before the match and asked him how much he prepared our player for penalty, he with this only God can save us. Imagine pushing over to extra minutes and loosing to penalty same mistake every time.”

@simplymsnobody, “Congratulations my boys. No we are so proud of you. You guys did everything and trust me we are entertained. Next one will be ours. You guys are the best team in AFCON no team comes close.”

@EmceeCeeKay, “Shame on Osimhen, Moses Simon, Lookman and Iwobi for shying away from penalties.” @Itata_9, “This is Chukwueze’s fault! What is wrong with him? We had the momentum.

You’ll be in camp cracking jokes that you’ll get MOTM if you play. Now that you’ve been given the opportunity to step up for your country, that’s what you do? “With all your experience! What kind of stupid walk-up and soft shot is that? Absolute nonsense! I can’t blame Bruno because he was the one under pressure and he at least kicked a good shot. Just terrible! This was our cup just like 2023 and we fumbled AGAIN.”

@beedey4u “What a journey it was, Super Eagles. Hold your heads high and be proud of the performance you gave out there truly proud.”

@kenneth_ugbaja “Chukwueze is not a serious baller for now.”

@StarBede, “Chukwueze should never play for Super Eagles again. And when will Osimhen deliver for us when it matters the most?

@harrysone9, “Chukwueze should just retire from the national team.”

@DanielRegha, “The Super Eagles need to work on their performance as a team; Individually our players are good, but not as a sqaud. Better preparation next time.”

@Chima_Obi1234, “Coach and Chukwueze messed Nwabali efforts up.”

@MiTechComm25, “I hate watching left footers play penalty. Two left footers missed the penalties for us.”
