Biden’s Family Asks US President To Withdraw From 2024 Election Campaign

Members of President Joe Biden’s family have been engaged in discussions regarding a potential exit strategy from his campaign, according to sources close to the matter.

The NBC reports that conversations have centred around ensuring that any departure, if chosen by Biden, would not only position the party for success against former President Donald Trump but also honour Biden’s dedicated service to the nation spanning over five decades.

Those familiar with the talks suggest that Biden’s closest allies are increasingly convinced that he will opt for an exit.

The report said President Biden’s family has been actively discussing the possibility of him ending his re-election campaign on his own timeline, with careful consideration given to the potential consequences for his health, his family, and the country’s stability.

This revelation comes as a surprise, given Biden’s previous insistence that he would not relinquish his position as the presumptive nominee.

However, sources familiar with the discussions suggest that the family is now proactively exploring an exit plan, signalling a potential change in Biden’s stance.

Party leaders, donors, and officials working on his re-election team have become increasingly alarmed with each day that has passed since a dismal debate performance three weeks ago.

At the same time, Democrats are observing Republicans coalesce around Trump, who has just overcome an assassination attempt and accepted his party’s nomination on Thursday night.

This juxtaposition is heightening worries about Biden’s campaign trajectory.

However, White House spokesman Andrew Bates pushed back on claims that the Biden family is exploring an exit strategy for the President’s re-election bid, asserting that no such discussions are occurring.

“That is not happening, period,” he said. “The individuals making those claims are not speaking for his family or his team — and they will be proven wrong. Keep the faith.”
