Troops Arrest Four Suspected Arms Fabricators, Gunrunners in Plateau, Recover Weapons
Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have arrested four suspected illegal arms fabricators and gunrunners during intelligence-led operations in Mangu and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The operations, conducted between October 7 and 11, 2026, followed credible intelligence received on October 4, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of firearms, ammunition and other items linked to their alleged activities.
The suspects were identified as Ayuba Sunday Abot, allegedly involved in illegal arms fabrication in Heipang, Barkin Ladi LGA, and three suspected gunrunners, Tangkat Danjuma, Kopdi Appollos and Nyam Nzang, who reportedly operated across Mangu and Barkin Ladi LGAs.
Items recovered by the troops include a locally fabricated revolver rifle, a locally fabricated pistol, an AK-47 barrel, an AK-47 magazine and 42 rounds of 7.62 × 54mm ammunition.
The military said the arrests and recoveries would support ongoing investigations into illegal arms production and distribution networks suspected of contributing to insecurity in the state.
