    APC Slams ADC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rejected allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) linking it to a reported shooting incident involving ADC members in Edo State.
In a statement responding to the ADC’s February 25, 2026 press release, the APC described the opposition party’s claims as “baseless, reckless, and premature,” noting that law enforcement agencies had yet to conclude investigations into the incident.
The ruling party criticized the ADC for allegedly rushing to accuse the APC without waiting for the outcome of a formal probe, stating that such action undermines due process and responsible political conduct. According to the APC, making conclusions before investigations are completed portrays a disregard for the rule of law.
The APC also took exception to the ADC’s reference to alleged “acts of terrorism by the ruling APC,” describing the characterization as unjustifiable and insensitive, particularly in light of ongoing national efforts to combat insecurity and terrorism. The party maintained that such claims trivialize the sacrifices of security personnel engaged in counter-terrorism operations across the country.
While condemning violence in the political space, the APC called on the police and other relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the Edo incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The party further suggested that investigators should examine internal disputes within the ADC, citing reports of factional tensions and leadership struggles within the opposition party.
The APC maintained that it has no involvement whatsoever in the shooting, stating that it remains focused on governance and consolidating its recent electoral successes, including victories in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) municipal elections and constituency elections in Rivers and Kano states.
Expressing appreciation to voters in the FCT, Kano, and Rivers states, the APC described the outcomes as a vote of confidence in the party and in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The ruling party reaffirmed its commitment to national development, emphasizing its focus on building a stronger, more resilient, and prosperous Nigeria.
