AFCON Final: Super Eagles’ Jersey Shortage Hits Nigeria
Supporters of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Kano are in a state of confusion as the team’s official jersey has become scarce and expensive.
It was reported that the jersey can hardly be found in the open market as many have already bought it in anticipation of celebration.
As of Saturday, a jersey which for N5,000 went as high as N15,000 and was hardly available.
Speaking on the development, a fan identified as Usman Muhammad, said, “As I am talking to you now, I can’t find it in Kano. Someone connected me with his friend in Kaduna to get it.
“We haf to bargain to get it at that amount but according to him (the seller), it sold up to N20,000 and N25,000 even in Kaduna. Currently, I am waiting for my latest delivery by 5pm.”
On his part, Junior Lukas, another fan, lamented that he wanted to wear the jersey but could not die to the hike in price.
“I really wanted to buy it but since it’s not available, I can’t afford that amount even if it’s N10,000.”
It was gathered that the scarcity was created by traders plotting to sell at higher rates.
The Super Eagles are looking forward to their 4th AFCON win when they take on Ivory Coast, the host nation, tonight.
