Troops Arrest Notorious Terrorism Suspect in Kaduna, Intensify Offensive Against Terrorists in Zamfara

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected notorious terrorist in Kaduna State while intensifying clearance operations against terrorist groups and their hideouts in Zamfara State.

The suspect, identified as Auta Maikyala, was arrested on November 5, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by troops of Sector 1 in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kagarko town, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Military sources disclosed that the suspect was apprehended at a hospital where he had reportedly gone for medical treatment following a gunshot wound sustained during a confrontation with a rival faction.

Preliminary investigations reportedly linked him to several criminal activities, including attacks on communities, kidnapping and cattle rustling.
He is currently in custody for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified clearance operations in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State to dismantle terrorist hideouts and restrict the activities of armed groups.

On the same day, troops conducted operations in Aljummu Hausa, Aljummu Fulani and Tunga Magaji villages, successfully clearing several terrorist hideouts in the affected communities.
The military said the operations were aimed at denying criminal elements freedom of movement and improving security for residents.

In a related development, the Air Component of the Nigerian Air Force carried out air interdiction operations against identified terrorist locations in Babban Doka and Kuyumbana Forest, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The air operations targeted locations suspected to be associated with wanted terrorist kingpin, Dogo Gide, following intelligence reports that terrorists were assembling in the area to plan and coordinate criminal activities.
Troops are currently maintaining dominance over the general area.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations across its Joint Operations Area to protect lives and property.

The military also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information about suspected terrorists and their activities to support ongoing security operations.
