EFCC Arrests 21 Suspected Cyber Fraudsters in Lekki Estate, Seizes Five Exotic Cars

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 21 suspected cybercrime fraudsters during a sting operation at Applewood Estate, Orchid Road, Lekki, Lagos State.
The operation, conducted by operatives of the EFCC’s Lagos Directorate 1 at about 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, targeted suspects allegedly obtaining money from unsuspecting victims through gift cards, cryptocurrencies and international money transfers by impersonating various individuals.
In a statement, the Commission said the operation followed diligent pre-arrest surveillance and reconnaissance of the suspects’ activities.
The operation also led to the seizure of five exotic cars.
The EFCC disclosed that a young woman who allegedly attempted to alert the suspects by making telephone calls during the operation was temporarily held, while her mobile phone was confiscated until the operation ended.
According to the Commission, the woman’s phone was subsequently returned to her.
Providing an update on the investigation, the EFCC said preliminary findings implicated 19 of the 21 suspects, while the remaining two had been released.
The Commission added that the 19 indicted suspects would be arraigned in court immediately.
Reaffirming its commitment to combating economic and financial crimes, the EFCC urged Nigerians to support its efforts and condemn activities capable of damaging the country’s reputation.
The Commission also maintained that the operation was professionally conducted, insisting that there was no record of harassment, intimidation or unlawful arrest.
While expressing its willingness to engage constructively with well-meaning Nigerians, the EFCC warned that it would not allow blackmailers and alarmists to undermine its mandate.
