Nigeria Felicitate With The State Of Kuwait On The Celebration Of Its National Day
The Government of Nigeria extends its warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the State of Kuwait on the occasion of their National Day, celebrated annually on 25 February.
Kuwait National Day commemorates the historic ascension to the throne of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah in 1950, a defining moment that laid the foundation for modern statehood and culminated in Kuwait’s independence on 19 June 1961. The leadership and vision demonstrated during this formative period continue to inspire Kuwait’s remarkable national development and institutional consolidation.
Over the decades, Kuwait has distinguished itself as a stable and progressive nation in the Gulf region, contributing meaningfully to regional peace, economic cooperation, humanitarian assistance, and multilateral diplomacy. Nigeria commends Kuwait’s constructive role within the international community and its commitment to sustainable development and global partnership.
Nigeria and Kuwait enjoy cordial and mutually beneficial relations, anchored on shared values of sovereignty, mutual respect, and constructive engagement. Both countries have maintained cooperation across bilateral and multilateral platforms, particularly within the framework of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the United Nations system, and other international institutions. Nigeria values Kuwait’s engagement in development cooperation and humanitarian initiatives, as well as the growing economic and diplomatic exchanges between both nations.
As Kuwait marks this important national milestone, Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties, expanding economic collaboration, and deepening people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria wish His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, the Government, and the people of Kuwait continued peace, prosperity, and progress.
