BREAKING: Days After Boko Haram Attack Explosion Rocks Adamawa

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded on Wednesday afternoon in Mubang village, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, sparking fresh fears in a community already traumatised by recent Boko Haram attacks. Residents said the explosion occurred at about 2:00pm, forcing people to flee in panic. No casualties were recorded.

“We thank God that nobody was killed,” a fleeing resident told SaharaReporters. It was reported on December 28, 2025, that residents of Zah and Mubang communities in Yadul, Garaha District, Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, were in grief following a deadly attack by suspected Boko Haram fighters, which left at least 14 people dead and two others injured.

Residents said that the assailants stormed the villages at about 6:16pm on Monday, December 29, 2025, unleashing violence that claimed the lives of elders and youths. Confirming the latest incident, the Chairman of Hong Local Government Council, Usman Inuwa said he was alerted to the blast shortly after it happened. “Yes, at about 2pm today I was informed that a bomb exploded in Mubang, under Garaha district,” he said. Garaha is the hometown of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

The explosion comes amid renewed terrorist activity in the area.

It was previously reported that suspected Boko Haram fighters attacked villages in Hong LGA on December 29, 2025, killing residents, burning homes, and destroying food supplies, leaving many families displaced. When contacted, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, requested time to gather details of the incident. However, as of the time of filing this report, he had yet to provide a response.

Residents say the latest explosion has heightened fears that insurgents may be planting explosives in the area. Many families, still struggling to recover from repeated attacks, are questioning the effectiveness of ongoing security operations.
