Zero Tolerance for Corruption Vanguard Slams GTBank Over Fraudulent Practices, Calls for Government Intervention
In a passionate statement to the press, Richard Aro, convener of the Zero Tolerance for Corruption Vanguard, has condemned the operations of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), calling the financial institution a “fraudulent organisation” and urging Nigerians to avoid using their services.
Aro highlighted the severe impact of the bank’s alleged fraudulent activities, especially on rural communities where elderly Nigerians depend on remittances to sustain their livelihoods.
According to Aro, many rural dwellers never receive the funds sent to them, or in some cases, do not even get notifications of transfers, adding to the growing frustration of the bank’s customers.
He further criticized the bank’s customer service, claiming that its representatives are often rude, unhelpful, and disorganised, leaving many Nigerians unable to resolve issues effectively.
Aro, who spoke on behalf of both urban and rural Nigerians, demanded that the federal government step in, warning that GTBank’s practices pose a serious threat to the country’s economy and security.
Comrade Emmanuel Oteku, a GTBank customer, shared his own harrowing experience, claiming that his transfer failed to reach recipient, and that attempts to resolve the issue have proven futile.
The group called for the federal government to investigate GTBank’s activities and for the bank’s CEO, Segun Agbaje, to step down and face prosecution.
