Information reaching Ibom Focus says that Nigerian Govt Bans Sachet Water
The Kwara State Police Command has issued a warning that the Muslim faithful will not be allowed to bring sachet water, popularly known as “pure water,” to the Eid praying grounds for the Eid El Fitri prayers in the state.
In addition, the command stated that vehicles, praise singers, and sloganeering would not be permitted within the vicinity of the Eid praying grounds in the state.
According to the statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Okasanmi Ajayi, on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, the state police command is prepared to ensure a peaceful and rancour-free celebration before, during, and after the Eid Fitri festivities.
“The command’s tactical teams, headed by the Commissioner of Police Kwara State, CP Paul Odama psc+, members of his management team, and the chairman and members of the state’s Eid security committee, took a tour of the Eid praying ground to dot all the i’s and cross all the t’s, in a bid to ensure that no opportunity is allowed for law-breakers and evil-minded people to access the Eid praying ground,” the statement reads.
It is important to note that the state had experienced political clashes in previous years when supporters of political parties turned the Eid praying ground into a battlefield and hurled sachet water at political bigwigs.
The Kwara State Police Command congratulated the Muslim faithful in the state on the successful completion of the Ramadan season and assured residents of its preparedness to ensure a peaceful celebration.
“The CP advises Muslim faithful and members of the public to conduct themselves peacefully during the holidays. Reckless driving, overloading of vehicles by commercial transporters, acrobatic displays by motorcycle riders, and drunkenness should be avoided by all means,” the statement further reads.
In addition, the statement warned that “Water sachets, commonly called “pure water,” vehicles, praise singers, and sloganeering will not be allowed within the precincts of the Eid praying grounds.”
Members of the public are urged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police through the following phone lines: 08125275046 and 07032069501.
“Kwara state is a state of harmony, and the command is resolute in ensuring it remains so,” the statement concludes.
