BREAKING: Fresh Crisis Looms As Gov Fubara Issues Executive Order Relocating Rivers Assembly To Govt House
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has issued an executive order to temporarily relocate the sitting of the State House of Assembly to the Auditorium of the Administrative section of Government House, Port Harcourt.
The governor hinged the relocation on the burning of the hallowed chambers of the State Assembly last year by suspected hoodlums.
Ibom Focus had reported that a high court sitting in Port Harcourt, on Friday restrained 25 members of Rivers State House of Assembly from parading themselves as lawmakers.
Justice Charles N. Wali gave the order, saying the lawmakers seats had been declared vacant.
Martin Amaewhule, the speaker and 25 other legislators affected by the ruling are loyal to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
They had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the height of the rift between Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
After their defection, their seats were said to have been declared vacant.
Recall that a three-member faction of the Rivers Assembly loyal to Fubara had recently elected a speaker.
