BREAKING: Again, Fresh Killings Rocks Plateau Amid Religious Conflict
There is currently tension in Kwahas Lahir, Mangu Ward 1 of Plateau State over fresh killings amid religious conflict in Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.
Naija News House on Tuesday reported that a religious crisis had started after the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN) in the state was set ablaze by some hoodlums.
Naija News House learnt that rampaging armed men torched church buildings and attacked those perceived to be Christians in Mangu, Plateau State, forcing residents to flee for their lives.
Naija News House gathered that the unrest persisted till Wednesday as some men armed with machetes continued to attack and kill residents of the state.
In a video, a group of armed men is seen attacking a man and cutting his neck till he is killed. The tragic incident occurred in broad daylight. However, SaharaReporters did not publish the video because of its gory nature.
When contacted the spokesperson for the state police command, Alfred Alabo for his reaction, he confirmed the unrest and said he led a team of security operatives to the affected areas on Wednesday to restore calm and peace.
“I just arrived from Mangu with our team. We were able to restore peace there,” he said, adding that more information about the incident would be released in a press statement he planned to issue later.
Mr Bashir Ahmad, an aide to a former president, Muhammadu Buhari described the incident as unfortunate and asked the government to ensure that all the culprits were made to face the wrath of the law.
“I strongly and wholeheartedly denounce the unfortunate incident that occurred in Mangu, Plateau State, and we urge the authorities to respond swiftly and justly by ensuring that all the perpetrators are brought to justice to prevent any further escalation of the situation,” he wrote on X.
