Police Arrest Gunrunner, Recover 374 Live Cartridges
The Anambra State Police Command has said that its operatives intercepted and arrested a 48-year-old gunrunner identified as Felix Owaya, from the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State and recovered 375 live cartridges.
The Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who made this known in a statement issued on Monday in Awka, the state capital, said Owaya was arrested on Saturday at 1:30pm by police operatives attached to Fegge division while on patrol along Niger Street, Onitsha.
The police spokesperson said that during interrogation, Owaya confessed that he was sent by one Mr Charles Ogboma to a man he was yet to mention to collect the ammunition.
Ikenga, who said investigation was still ongoing, said, “The Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, while commending police officers who made the recovery for their vigilance and tenacity of purpose directs all personnel in the Command to sustain the tempo of crime prevention and detection in service of the people of the state.”
