NAAS Commandant Commends OPHK Troops, Pledges Sustained Quality Training
The Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School (NAAS), Bauchi, Major General Abubakar Ahmed, has commended the resilience and operational successes of troops under the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), while reaffirming his commitment to sustaining high-quality training for armour personnel.
Major General Ahmed gave the assurance during an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters of OPHK at Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri, on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
During the visit, the Commandant praised the Theatre Commander and troops for their dedication and perseverance in safeguarding lives and property across the North-East region. He also lauded the professionalism of the troops and noted the relative peace being experienced in Maiduguri.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to reaffirm the support of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (NAAC) and to assess the performance of armour crew deployed in the theatre. According to him, the exercise would also help identify gaps and improve the effectiveness of personnel in ongoing operations.
Major General Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the consistent feedback received from the field regarding the performance of armour personnel. He further assured that the school would continue to provide adequate platforms for training and sustain the modular rotation of personnel supporting OPHK.
In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, OPHK, Major General Abdusalam Abubakar, appreciated the Commandant for the regular assessment visits and the quality of training provided to armour crews. He emphasized the critical role of NAAC personnel in the overall success of the operation and commended the outstanding performance of NAAS graduates.
The Theatre Commander also assured that armour platforms would be properly maintained, while prioritizing the welfare of personnel in the theatre.
The visit featured interactions with senior officers, exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph.
