Tinubu Send Executive Bill To National Assembly To Affirm New Minimum Wage For Next Five Years
President Bola Tinubu has said his government has “negotiated the new minimum wage in good faith” and “will soon send an executive bill to the National Assembly to enshrine the agreed-upon wage for the next five years or less.”
Tinubu also urged Nigerians to bear the pains of economic reforms embarked upon by his government amid the biting inflation and worsening hardship.
This is even as he stated that he would never turn his back on Nigerians.
He said these during the nationwide broadcast on Wednesday morning to celebrate the 25th democracy anniversary of the country.
Tinubu said, “As we continue to reform the economy, I shall always listen to the people and will never turn my back on you.”
President Tinubu also addressed the recent negotiations with the organised labour on a new national minimum wage, stating that the government “has negotiated in good faith and will soon send an executive bill to the National Assembly to enshrine the agreed-upon wage for the next five years or less.”
He said it was important to have both political and economic democracy, urging the nation to continue working towards a brighter future.
According to him, there is a need for reforms to create a stronger foundation for growth.
He added, “In the end, our national greatness will not be achieved by travelling the easy road. It can only be achieved by taking the right one.”
