Kaduna Gets Power Boost as TCN Receives New Transformers at Jaja, Jaji Substations

The Kaduna Region of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has taken delivery of four new power transformers aimed at improving electricity transmission and supply across the North-West region.
The transformers arrived on Monday, March 2, 2026, with two 150MVA 330/132/33kV units installed at the Jaja Transmission Substation in Kudan Local Government Area, and two 66MVA 132/33kV units delivered to the Jaji Substation in Igabi Local Government Area, both in Kaduna State.
The projects, which are funded by the African Development Bank (AFDB), are designed to strengthen power transmission capacity and enhance the reliability of electricity supply in the region. Officials say the installations have already reached an advanced stage, raising hopes among TCN authorities and local communities for improved power delivery.
Upon completion, the Jaja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation will be connected to the 330kV Kano Transmission Line, a vital link expected to significantly reinforce the region’s power transmission network.
The development is also expected to reduce power outages, improve voltage stability, and ensure a more reliable bulk electricity supply to distribution companies serving Kano State and neighbouring areas.
TCN noted that the new infrastructure will help strengthen the national grid and improve electricity delivery to homes, businesses, and industries across the North-West.
