I Won Senatorial Election, Akpabio Insist, Gives Reason
Following a High Court ruling sentencing Professor Peter Ogban to three years in prison for manipulating election results in his favour, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Senator Godswill Akpabio has come out to fault the ruling.
Senator Akpabio faulted the decision of the High Court to link the Professor of Soil Science, with him.
Ogban was the returning officer in the senatorial election in Akwa Ibom North-West in 2019. He was prosecuted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The court found him guilty of altering results of the election to favour Godswill Akpabio, the senatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, against Chris Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

But Senator Akpabio, disagreed with the court and insists the University Professor jailed for electoral fraud by the court didn’t work for him.
In a release signed by his Press Secretary, Anietie Ekong, the Minister described as unfounded, the decision that the electoral officer was convicted for rigging an election in his favour.
Akpabio however accused the professor of colluding with INEC and PDP to send him packing him from the National Assembly, maintaining that he was a victim of electoral fraud.
“Contrarily, Senator Akpabio was a victim of the fraudulent manipulation of the election of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District held on 23rd February 2019. He is vindicated that the perpetrators of the electoral fraud are being brought to justice. At last the chickens are coming home to roost”.
