My Appointment Is An Opportunity To Add Value; Says Newly Appointed NYSC Board Chairman, Eta
The newly appointed Board Chairman of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ntufam Hilliard Eta on Friday paid a visit to the Scheme.
The Board Chairman stopped over at the office of the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, before heading to the National headquarters of NYSC in Abuja.
Upon arrival, Eta and the Director-General of the Scheme, Brigadier General YD Ahmed had a closed door meeting.
Speaking to journalists, Eta said he’s an agent of change, adding that his appointment as the board chairman of the Scheme is an opportunity to add value.
He said Nigeria is at the point of transition towards greatness, and that one of the pillars of greatness is the youths.
The former Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stated that NYSC is created to refine the youths, building the greatest value of patriotism, creativity and progress.
When asked what his impression was about the Scheme on his first visit? Eta said: “So far so good, you must know I’m an agent of change and Nigeria is at the point of transition towards greatness.
“One of the pillars for the greatness of Nigeria is the youths. And this is an institution that’s created to refine the youths, building the greatest value patriotism, creativity and progress.
“For me, it’s an opportunity to add value. I have a purpose driven attitude to life. So I thank God for this opportunity that’s given to me to showcase that attitude to see to the success of the Scheme.
The Board Chairman noted that the Scheme has been existing for the past 52 years, adding that anything that’s about 52 years needs some reformation, renovation and innovation.
“That’s the reason why I think it’s a very good opportunity for us to bring in some reforms and clearly direct the Scheme towards the very best that Nigeria can offer”, he added.
