Eid Celebration: Akwa Ibom Youth Group Supports Orphans In Abuja, Calls For Action On Out-of-School Kids

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Akwa Ibom State Youths in Abuja, has marked this year’s Sallah celebration by visiting and donating food items to Queen Esther’s Orphanage and Children’s Home in Abuja on Saturday.

The outreach, aimed at sharing the joy of the festive season with less privileged children, also highlighted the group’s commitment to child welfare and education.

Speaking during the visit, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Hilary Linus Okon, said the initiative was designed to positively impact the lives of vulnerable children and reassure them of their worth.
“Our goal is to make a positive impact on these young lives and remind them that they are loved and valued. This initiative is part of our strategic efforts to ensure that no child is left behind, regardless of their background,” Okon said.

He called on government agencies, corporate organisations, non-profits, and individuals to collaborate in addressing the growing number of out-of-school children, stressing the need to guarantee access to education for every child.
Okon further noted that the visit reflects the foundation’s dedication to community service, adding that giving back to society helps instill hope and happiness among disadvantaged groups.

Also speaking, the Co-founder of the foundation, Gideon Udoette, urged members of the public to support the organisation’s efforts by sponsoring the education of out-of-school children through its platform.

While speaking with journalists, He explained that the foundation focuses on vulnerable groups, including orphans, children from single-parent homes, and those whose families lack the financial means to provide education.

Udoette also advocated for stronger legal measures against parents who fail to send their children to school, describing education as a fundamental right.

Ibom Focus understands that the foundation, established less than a year ago, is driven by a vision to nurture and develop young boys into responsible men through education and support initiatives.
