BREAKING: PDP BoT Member Dumps Party
In a significant political move, Charles Idahosa, a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state.
Idahosa, a close ally of Governor Godwin Obaseki, made the decision to resign from the PDP on April 29, citing his greatest regret within the party as not supporting Obaseki’s resignation bid when the governor expressed fatigue with governance. Reflecting on this, Idahosa acknowledged the allure of power as an intoxicating force.
The transition took place at Idahosa’s private residence in Benin, where he was issued an APC membership card by the party’s local chairman. The event was attended by notable figures including former Edo Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, and National Women Leader of APC, Dr. Mary Alile.
Having been a foundation member of the APC, Idahosa’s return signifies a reconnection with his political roots. Despite his defection to the PDP in 2020, he now expresses confidence in the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, emphasizing the importance of party unity and focus.
Idahosa’s return to the APC isn’t fueled by personal ambitions for political office but rather a commitment to supporting the party’s vision for Edo state. He believes in Okpebholo’s ability to lead the state forward and dismisses concerns about his return posing a threat to other party members.
In his reflections, Idahosa pays tribute to the legacy of former Edo governor, Samuel Ogbemudia, and looks ahead to a collaborative effort to secure victory for the APC in the forthcoming elections.
As Edo state prepares for its political future, Idahosa’s journey serves as a testament to the dynamic nature of Nigerian politics and the enduring importance of alliances and convictions in shaping its course.
