Police Storm Bandits’ Hideout, Kill One, Arrest Others In Abuja
The Nigeria Police Force has said that its operatives from the Utako Divisional headquarters stormed bandits hideouts in Chikara, Kogi State, bordering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Zuba, Abuja, where they killed one suspect and arrested three others.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who made this known in a statement issued on Saturday said that the operatives led by CSP Victor Godfrey, also recovered an English pump-action gun, a locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, cutlasses, knives, and items believed to be charms from the suspects.
Adeh said that the three suspects arrested during the streak of clearance operation which took place between June 8 and 13, include 27-year-old Mahammadu Isa from Dantata area of Abuja, 27-year-old Likita Idris, 27 from Kogi state and 22-year-old Isiyaku Muhammedu, 22 from Kogi state.
The police spokesperson said “The sudden appearance of the police operatives in the kidnapper’s camp resulted in a gun duel. However, the bandits were overwhelmed by the firepower of the police operative, as one of the bandits by name Abdusallam Abdulkadir got hit during crossfire, and the three suspects were arrested.
“The suspects have confessed to being involved in a series of kidnapping incidents and other heinous crimes in FCT and its environs.
“While the investigation is still ongoing, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, reiterates the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the residents of the nation’s capital.
