You Are Hungry Because You Are Lazy, Yari Tells Nigerians
The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, has blamed laziness and lack of hard work for the hunger experienced by some Nigerians.
Yari made the statement on Saturday during the APC presidential campaign rally held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The former Zamfara State governor argued that the government should not be held entirely responsible for the economic challenges and hunger facing citizens, stressing that individual efforts and attitudes towards work also contribute to people’s financial conditions.
Addressing supporters at the rally, Yari urged Nigerians experiencing hardship to embrace hard work, insisting that diligence could help them overcome poverty and hunger.
“You are hungry because you are lazy. If you work hard, you will not be hungry,” he said.
His remarks come amid widespread concerns over rising food prices, declining purchasing power and the increasing cost of living, which have continued to put pressure on Nigerian households.
