Stop Blaming Ruling Party Over Court Judgment; APC Tells ADC to Resolve Internal Crisis

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to address its internal leadership crisis instead of accusing the ruling party of influencing judicial decisions against it.

The APC said the ADC had developed a habit of blaming the ruling party and attacking the judiciary whenever court judgments went against the faction led by former Senate President David Mark.
In a press statement issued in Abuja on Friday, November 6, 2026, the APC described the ADC’s reactions as baseless, insisting that the ruling party had no involvement in the legal dispute that resulted in the removal of the David Mark-led leadership.
The party maintained that the case was initiated by aggrieved ADC national officers who challenged what it described as the alleged unlawful takeover of the party’s leadership by David Mark and his associates.
According to the APC, the leadership dispute was connected to the political ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, adding that the takeover allegedly violated the party’s internal democratic processes and the rule of law.
The ruling party further argued that the Federal High Court judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu in Abuja was a consequence of the ADC’s internal crisis and not an action orchestrated by the APC.
It recalled that the judgment removed the David Mark-led leadership and invalidated official actions taken by the leadership, including its primary election processes and outcomes.
The APC accused the ADC of embracing the judiciary when judgments favour it but discrediting the courts when decisions go against its interests.
It urged the opposition party to exercise its constitutional right of appeal if dissatisfied with the judgment rather than resorting to what it described as partisan attacks, conspiracy theories and threats capable of inciting unrest.
The APC also described the ADC as unfit to govern Nigeria, arguing that a political party unable to resolve its internal disagreements cannot effectively manage the affairs of the country.
The ruling party reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigeria’s democracy, upholding the rule of law and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration in delivering good governance.
