Nigerian Navy Discovers 132,000 Litres of Suspected Stolen Crude Oil in Rivers
The Nigerian Navy has uncovered an estimated 132,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil in Allison community, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, in a major operation against crude oil theft in the Niger Delta.
The discovery was made on October 22, 2026, by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny under Operation DELTA SENTINEL, following actionable intelligence.

According to the Navy, the operation led to the discovery of 10 dugout pits containing the suspected stolen crude oil, exposing a potential storage point within the illicit petroleum supply chain.
The Navy said the site and recovered petroleum products were handled in accordance with existing regulations.
The operation underscores the importance of intelligence-led security operations in identifying concealed petroleum stockpiles and dismantling the infrastructure used to facilitate crude oil theft and the unauthorised movement of petroleum products.
The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at locating and dismantling illegal refining facilities and disrupting networks involved in crude oil theft across the Niger Delta.
It also called on community leaders, residents, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to provide timely information on crude oil theft, illegal refining activities, suspicious petroleum storage facilities and the unauthorised movement of petroleum products.
The Navy stressed that credible information from members of the public would enable security agencies to respond swiftly and prevent illegal activities from expanding.
It further emphasised that protecting the nation’s critical petroleum assets requires vigilance and active collaboration between security agencies and the communities they serve.
The Navy urged residents to remain alert and support lawful efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s natural resources.
