The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 56-year-old man, Madarikan Emehinola, for allegedly setting his house on fire, leading to the death of his 40-year-old wife, Igbagbo Erobe.
The incident occurred in the Igbo-Edu area of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to him, the incident was reported at the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters on Sunday after the police received information that a house had been set ablaze, resulting in the death of a woman.
Babaseyi said the victim’s body had been deposited in a mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
He added that the case was being processed for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, assured the public that the case would be thoroughly and professionally investigated in line with the law.
