2027: Umahi Tasks APC Campaign Team on Nationwide Infrastructure Projects Documentation
The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has directed members of the Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation Directorate of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council to compile and publicise federal infrastructure projects across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Umahi gave the directive on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Abuja, during the inauguration of members of the Office of the Deputy Director General (DDG), Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation, of the campaign council.
The minister, who is the Deputy Director General of the directorate, said the team must go beyond projects executed by the Federal Ministry of Works to capture infrastructure investments undertaken by other ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government.
He explained that the initiative was designed to ensure comprehensive documentation and effective communication of infrastructure developments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Umahi called on members to embrace teamwork, mutual understanding and a strong sense of responsibility, stressing that coordinated efforts would be essential to achieving the objectives of the office.
He specifically directed the Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement for the six geopolitical zones, who serve as zonal coordinators, to collaborate with other members and the secretary in identifying and documenting relevant projects within their respective zones.
According to him, the exercise should capture infrastructure projects across the country to provide a comprehensive overview of government investments and development initiatives under the Renewed Hope Administration.
The minister explained that the Federal Ministry of Works and the Senior Special Assistants would continue their existing publicity activities, while the newly inaugurated office would provide a wider platform for coordinating information on infrastructure projects undertaken by other federal agencies.
He added that the framework would support the collection and dissemination of infrastructure-related information at the national, zonal and sub-national levels.
Umahi also stressed that infrastructure development remained a major driver of economic growth, national integration and community development.
He noted that investments in roads and other public infrastructure help connect communities, stimulate economic activities, create employment opportunities and support the growth of other sectors.
On road construction technology, the minister highlighted the Federal Government’s use of continuous reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP), explaining that the technology was helping to reduce reliance on imported bitumen and promote the use of local materials and expertise.
He said the approach could reduce pressure on foreign exchange associated with imported construction materials while supporting local industries and improving the durability of road infrastructure.
Umahi charged the team to maintain high standards of professionalism and diligence, insisting that infrastructure projects must be accurately documented and effectively communicated to the public.
The inauguration represents an organisational step by the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate infrastructure information, strengthen public sensitisation and improve the presentation of government development projects ahead of the presidential election
