NDLEA Arrests 83-Year-Old Grandmother Again With Meth, Colorado
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested an 83-year-old grandmother, Uloma Uchechi Sunday, for allegedly dealing in methamphetamine and Colorado, less than a year after she was arrested, prosecuted and convicted for a similar offence.
The octogenarian was reportedly arrested on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at her residence in Ite-Uzo, Umuaguma, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to the NDLEA, quantities of methamphetamine and Colorado were discovered concealed around her waist with a wrapper.
The agency said her arrest followed credible intelligence indicating that she allegedly operated a notorious drug joint where criminal elements who terrorised the community gathered.
In a statement issued by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the agency disclosed that Uloma was first arrested on May 17, 2025, alongside her 32-year-old daughter, Chisom Uchechi, at their residence in the same community.
The two women were found with 50 grams of methamphetamine, 522 grams of skunk, 260 grams of fresh cannabis leaves and 12 grams of tramadol.
They subsequently pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment or a fine of ₦200,000 each. They reportedly paid the fines and were released.
Babafemi stated that the elderly woman allegedly returned to the drug trade after her release and expanded her activities by establishing a drug joint.
