Troops Nab Suspected Terrorist Ally, Recover 73 Animals in North-West
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, destroyed three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Zamfara State and recovered 73 livestock abandoned by fleeing terrorists.
The Joint Task Force North West disclosed that the operational successes were recorded on October 8, 2026, during separate operations aimed at curbing terrorist activities and improving security across the region.
In Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 arrested Yusuf Adamu at Kuyello following credible intelligence linking him to terrorist activities.
According to the operational account, the suspect allegedly admitted during preliminary interrogation to recording a video of a female kidnap victim who was reportedly sexually assaulted by terrorists as part of efforts to facilitate a ransom demand.
He further alleged that the victim was killed after the ransom was paid and claimed to have received ₦50,000 for his role in the incident.
Security personnel are continuing investigations to arrest Yusuf Iliya Sani, identified as the alleged principal suspect, alongside other suspected collaborators.
Meanwhile, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, carried out a joint operation along the Magami–Dansadau road in Zamfara State, where they discovered and destroyed three IEDs reportedly planted by terrorists.
The clearance operation is expected to reduce the threat posed by explosive devices and provide safer passage for residents and other road users travelling along the route.
In another operation in Zamfara, troops acted on intelligence concerning the movement of terrorists allegedly transporting rustled livestock between Kombo and Gurusu villages.
The troops deployed to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists. Their effective firepower reportedly forced the fleeing suspects to abandon the animals.
The recovered livestock included 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep. The animals were subsequently taken to a secure location by troops working in conjunction with local vigilantes for further action.
The military said the operations demonstrated its continued commitment to disrupting terrorist activities, dismantling their support networks and safeguarding communities in the North-West.
The public has been encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious individuals, movements or objects to the nearest security formation to assist security agencies in their ongoing operations.
