COAS Strengthens Military-traditional Rulers’ Partnership For National Security
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Friday, October 9, 2026, visited the Andoma of Doma Kingdom, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr Ahmadu Aliyu Ogga Onawo, at his palace in Doma, Nasarawa State, to strengthen military-civil relations and enhance cooperation in tackling security challenges.
The visit coincided with the COAS’s presence in Doma for the graduation ceremony of an elite Special Forces Battalion trained at the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in the kingdom.
During the visit, Lieutenant General Shaibu highlighted the importance of traditional rulers and host communities in intelligence gathering, early warning systems, building public trust and promoting sustainable peace. He appreciated the kingdom for its continued support and hospitality, noting that collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions and local communities is essential to addressing security threats.
In his remarks, the Andoma of Doma commended the COAS for his leadership and the establishment of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Doma, describing the institution as a significant contribution to the community.
The traditional ruler reaffirmed the kingdom’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army and offered prayers for lasting peace, stability and security across Nigeria.
