FG Pays Non-Academic Staff CONTA for January–August 2026 — Alausa
The Federal Government has released the Consolidated Non-Academic Staff Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CONTA) to non-academic staff of all Federal Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, covering the period from January to August 2026.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, announced the release on Wednesday, saying the payment demonstrates the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to workers’ welfare, industrial harmony and a stable academic calendar.
According to Alausa, the payment reflects the administration’s recognition of the critical role played by both academic and non-academic personnel in ensuring the effective functioning of tertiary institutions and the development of Nigeria’s human capital.
He said the release of CONTA was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to address legitimate welfare concerns, strengthen industrial harmony and minimise disruptions to academic activities in tertiary institutions across the country.
The announcement comes shortly after the commencement of payment of the Consolidated Academic Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CATA) to academic staff on Monday.
The Minister said the payments reaffirm the administration’s commitment to strengthening tertiary institutions and ensuring they produce the skilled workforce required to drive Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He assured stakeholders that the Federal Ministry of Education would continue to engage relevant unions, institutional authorities and other stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues, promote mutual understanding and build a stable, productive and globally competitive tertiary education system.
Alausa commended academic and non-academic staff, heads of institutions, unions and other stakeholders for their patience, understanding and cooperation with the Federal Government.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to policies and initiatives that prioritise staff welfare, institutional stability, human capital development and improved learning outcomes.
The Federal Ministry of Education further assured personnel and stakeholders in the tertiary education sector that the Tinubu administration would continue to fulfil its obligations, address legitimate outstanding issues and sustain reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s education system under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
