Last Updated: January 2025

Our Commitment to Accuracy

IbomFocus.com is committed to delivering accurate, reliable information to our readers. When we make errors, we correct them promptly and transparently. This policy outlines how we handle corrections across all our platforms.

Corrections Policy

Types of Corrections

Minor Corrections

  • Spelling or grammatical errors
  • Minor factual inaccuracies (dates, titles, numbers)
  • Broken links or formatting issues
  • How we handle: Fixed immediately without notice when the error doesn’t change the meaning of the story

Major Corrections

  • Significant factual errors
  • Misidentification of individuals or organizations
  • Incorrect quotes or attribution
  • How we handle: Clearly labeled “Correction” at the bottom of the article with explanation of what was changed

Clarifications

  • Information that was technically accurate but could be misleading
  • Additional context needed for better understanding
  • How we handle: Labeled “Clarification” at the bottom of the article with explanation

Retractions

  • Fundamentally flawed reporting
  • Information that cannot be verified or is proven false
  • How we handle: Full retraction notice replacing the original content, with explanation of the error

How We Make Corrections

Corrections Format

Example:

Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Governor Umo Eno attended the ceremony on January 15. The governor attended on January 16. We regret the error.
