Fayose, Wike Speak On Joining APC
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed speculations that he may defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on TVC, Fayose declared his unwavering loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, stating that his political alignment would always follow that of the former Rivers State governor.
“I’m a Wike person. Anywhere Wike is, that is where I am,” Fayose said.
Despite his strong criticism of the PDP leadership in the South-West, Fayose insisted that he remains committed to the party, stressing that he has no intention of joining the APC.
“I will never join the APC,” he added.
Fayose was a key member of the G-5 Integrity Group within the PDP, led by Wike, which worked with other presidential candidates during the 2023 general election. The group opposed the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over his refusal to adhere to the PDP’s zoning and power rotation arrangement.
Alongside Wike, Fayose, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom played prominent roles within the group. During the election, Fayose, Wike, Makinde and Ugwuanyi worked in support of President Bola Tinubu of the APC, while Ortom backed the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
