Aisha Finally Speaks On “Other Room” With Late Buhari
Aisha Buhari, wife of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has said she now finds her late husband’s controversial “other room” remark amusing, although she believes it was made on an inappropriate platform.
The comment dates back to 2016, when President Buhari was asked during a press conference in Berlin, Germany, about public criticism of his administration made by his wife.
Standing alongside then German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Buhari responded by saying:
“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.”
The statement sparked widespread criticism both locally and internationally, with many describing it as dismissive and sexist. Reflecting on the remark years later, Aisha Buhari acknowledged its humor but maintained that the setting and circumstances made it ill-advised
