FULL LIST: Nigerian Police Academy Admission: Names Of Akpabio’s Candidates, Others Which IGP Egbetokun Smuggled

It has confirmed the names of the 60 persons “smuggled” into the Nigerian Police Academy admission list as candidates of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, his deputy, Barau Jibrin, and other top senators.

According to the admission document, dozens of names “sponsored by the Senate President, his deputy, and other top lawmakers” have been inserted into the official admission records.

It was earlier reported that the infamous IGP Egbetokun gifted 60 admission slots in the 2025 Nigerian Police Academy intake to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, his deputy, and other influential lawmakers.

According to the Nigerian Police Academy admission list obtained by SaharaReporters, no fewer than 60 names were sponsored by the Senate President, his deputy, Jibrin Barau, and other top lawmakers.

Sources at the academy lamented that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, by gifting the senators with the slots, bypassed merit-based selection and internal recruitment procedures.

The list reveals that Senate President Akpabio personally nominated seven candidates, six of whom are from Akwa Ibom, his home state, and one from Nasarawa.

The document explicitly stated: “These names are sponsored by the Senate President.”

The seven names linked to Akpabio are:

Udosen Kponoabasi Esitima, Akpan Lovina Bassey, Asanwana Kingsley John, Peter Wisdom Oscar, Esong Christopher Richard, Mkpang Happiness Eyoita, and Tanko Aminu Madaki.

Similarly, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin reportedly received five slots, all of which went to candidates from Kano State. Those names are: Tijjani Usman Dauda, Sheshe Suleiman Rabiu, Hussaini Ismail, Ahmad Mubarak, and Asuni Abdulfatah Abdulshakur.

Also featured on the list is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, who was allocated four candidates, all from Jigawa State: AbdulRahman Abbas, Muhammad Aliyu Babandede, Garba Haliru Faisal, and Hamza Ismail Abdullahi.

The remaining slots were distributed among other senators, including Sen. Akintunde Yunus Abiodun, Sen. Abbas Aminu Iya, Sen. Amos K. Yohanna, Sen. Babangida Hussaini Uba, and Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, who collectively nominated several individuals now appearing in the official admission file.

Their nominees include: Oladokun Gold Ayomide, Oparinde Rofiat Olamide, Ayanwale Aishat Abioye, Adigun Mustopha Atanda, Umoru Mohammed Danlami, Bitrus Dogara, Kabir Abdulkadir Nayakini, Ogbui Joseph Ikechukwu, Ogbuchi Chidera Johnpaul, Abdullahi Abdussamad Muhammad, Suleiman Hafusat Buyon, Ibrahim Yasmin Mohammed, Gubio Ibrahim Umar, Muhammad Ibrahim Ahmad, Asuquo Etim Emmanuel, Muhammad Kalamullah Salisu, Aliyu Salisu Wasai, Edeze Driscole Chinweuba, Ishaq Mansur Muhammed, Iwuozor Precious Udochukwu, Abubakar Shuaibu, Abdulrahman Yunkum, Chijioke Divine Ikechukwu, Emeruwa Chiemezue Anthony, Aguigwe Peculiar Chinenye, Moses Susana, Olowu Lateef Adewale, Isah Ibrahim, Khalid Jafar, and Nasamu Michelle Olere.

Additional names that appeared on the controversial list are:

Muhammad Kalamullah Salisu, Obi-Iheanacho Favour Adaobi, Alex-Dumbo Angelica Tamarauperebidenyefa, Yakubu Micheal, Obeten Peace Charles, Nangol Bright Nehemiah, Gagarau Yusuf Bala, Omolola Anjolaoluwa Michael, Adegbe Stella, Boluwatife Emmanuel Otitoju, Johnson Tillery Derrick, Ayedun Hammed Akorede, Opeyemieniola Sefrinmi, Alade Adeleye Mayowa, and Terkimbi Tersugh Barnabas.

Other sponsors named in the document include Senator Rufai Hanga, the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson, Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung, Sen. Williams Eteng Jonah, Sen. Diket Satso Plang, Sen. Samaila Dahuwa Kaila, Sen. AbdulFatai Buhari, Sen. Abba Moro, Sen. Ipinsagba Olajide Emmanuel, Sen. Aniekan Bassey, Sen. Kamorudeen Olalere Oyewumi, Sen. Ali Sharafadeen Abiodun, and Sen. Emmanuel Memga Udende.

Speaking, a top source in the police academy had lamented how the IGP Egbetokun had bastardised the admission process, bringing in candidates from top lawmakers and cronies just to perpetuate his “illegal stay in office.”

Only in August, reported the storm of controversy in the Nigeria Police Force over preferential promotions including for one Bukola Kuti, who was allegedly romantically involved with Egbetokun.

The police sources had decried rising favouritism in the Force under Egbetokun’s sit-tight leadership.

Sources had at that time said that the Police Service Commission was reluctant to publish the full list due to widespread allegations of nepotism—particularly that 30 of the 38 officers promoted are of Yoruba descent.

The IGP’s office, once expected to be a sanctuary of integrity and leadership, has become a theatre of petty rivalries, manipulation, and moral collapse.

It was had also reported that the Police Service Commission (PSC) had approved the special promotion of 37 senior police officers handpicked by Egbetokun, but internal uproar within the force had stalled the public announcement of the list.

It was gathered that the promotions, largely considered controversial, sparked ethnic and institutional tensions within the Nigeria Police Force.

The development had also sparked discontent across various police commands, particularly among officers who believe they were overlooked for promotion despite being qualified, allegedly due to ethnic considerations.
