Panic As Court Grants Yahaya Bello N500m Bail In N110b Fraud Case
A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has granted N500 million bail to Yahaya Bello, former Kogi State governor, over allegations of a N110 billion fraud.
Justice Maryann Anenih, ruling on Thursday, approved the bail application on the condition that Bello provides three sureties in like sum, who must be responsible citizens with landed properties in prime areas of the FCT, including Guzape, Wuse 2, Apo, Asokoro, and Jabi.
The judge explained that the sureties are also required to submit two passport photographs each and provide valid means of identification, including their National Identification Number (NIN).
The former governor is charged with violating sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law Cap.89, Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, which are punishable under section 312 of the same law.
However, this development comes a week after Bello was granted bail by a federal high court in Abuja on a separate case involving alleged money laundering of N80 billion.
