BREAKING: Plane With Over 80 Passengers Caught Fire
A Russian plane made an emergency landing at Antalya airport in southern Turkey on Sunday after one of its engines caught fire.
All 87 passengers and four crew members on board the Azimuth Airlines flight were safely evacuated, with no reported injuries.
The plane, a Sukhoi SuperJet 100-95LR, had taken off from Sochi, a Russian Black Sea resort, and was landing at Antalya airport when the fire broke out in its left engine.
Emergency units quickly responded to contain the flames and smoke.
The incident occurred amid adverse weather conditions, with the plane landing on runway 36R at 21:30 TRT. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but an investigation is likely to follow.
“All 87 passengers and four crew members were safely evacuated,” said the official, Suat Seyitoglu, as quoted by The Moscow Times, adding that the fire was quickly put out and there were no injuries.
