Easter: CDS Oluyede Calls For Unity, Sacrifice and Renewed Commitment To to National Security

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General OO Oluyede, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christian faithful and personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, urging renewed commitment to service, unity and national security.
In a goodwill message to mark the 2026 Easter celebration, the Defence Chief described Easter as a sacred season symbolising sacrifice, courage, hope and the triumph of good over evil—values he said align closely with the duties of the military profession.
General Oluyede noted that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ reflect the principles of selflessness, courage and dedication to a greater cause, which are demonstrated daily by officers and soldiers in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.
He paid tribute to fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty, stating that their sacrifices remain indelible in the nation’s history and will never be forgotten. He also acknowledged wounded personnel and troops currently deployed across various theatres of operations, commending their resilience and dedication.
The CDS called on members of the Armed Forces to remain united, vigilant and steadfast in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities, stressing that professionalism and collaboration with other security agencies and communities are essential in addressing the country’s security challenges.
He further expressed appreciation to families of military personnel, particularly those with loved ones on deployment during the festive period, for their patience, sacrifice and continued support, noting that their encouragement boosts troop morale and operational success.
General Oluyede also urged Nigerians to embrace a collective, whole-of-society approach in the fight against terrorism and insecurity, emphasizing that national unity and shared responsibility are critical to achieving lasting peace.

He reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to defending the nation and maintaining peace, security and stability across the country.
The Defence Chief wished all personnel of the Armed Forces, their families and Nigerians at large a peaceful and blessed Easter celebration.
