BREAKING: Labour Arrive Aso Rock For Meeting With President Tinubu
Representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have arrived at the State House in Abuja for a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
The meeting comes amid the ongoing negotiations in the country between organised labour and the Nigerian government on a new national minimum wage.
Ibom Focus on Wednesday reported that the Nigerian government was reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement with the labour unions on a new national minimum wage as President Tinubu invited the representatives of organised labour to a meeting at the Aso Villa on Thursday (today), hoping to settle the lingering talks on minimum wage.
Ibom Focus had earlier reported how the organised labour insisted on a N250,000 minimum wage, although the Nigerian government offered N62,000.
State governments and the private sector have expressed worry about being able to pay the N62,000 wage.
Meanwhile, it is still unclear how much will be proposed by the President in the new negotiation.
