JUST IN: Despite Meeting With Tinubu, NLC, TUC Fixes Date For Nationwide Strike

The Organised Labour in Nigeria says the National industrial Court has served summons on the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.

According to NLC and TUC, the summons bordered on contempt of court charges following the recent constitutional-allowed protest embarked by organised labour despite the provisions of the constitution.

In a communique issued at the end of its emergency national executive council meeting on Thursday, the organised labour resolved to go on strike across the country any day labour leaders are summoned to court by the government.

The industrial unions used the communique to demand for the immediate withdrawal of what it calls “litigious terrorism” by the Federal Ministry of Justice before the end of work Friday, August 11, 2023.

The labour unions warned that it would embarked on a nationwide comprehensive strike beginning from Monday, August 14, 2023, if the contemptuous Clcourt summons are not withdrawn by whosoever initiated it.

While commending the national leadership and all the state officers for the effective coordination of its just concluded protest, the organised labour urged all affiliates and State Councils including Civil society allies to stay further action but to remain focused and eternall vigilant for resumption anytime.
